Robert Graham

ROBERT DOUGLAS GRAHAM (Doug) Born October 29, 1940, in the family home in Summerdale, Alabama. He departed this life for his heavenly reward on November 7, 2022. Preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Zuma Graham, he was affectionately known by all the family as Sonny. He was quite the jokester and loved to talk about growing up in the hard times of the 40’s, working on his Daddy's farm, pitching watermelons and picking cucumbers, among many other things. He loved to say that he walked to school barefoot, carrying his lunch in a syrup bucket. According to him, it was uphill both ways and included many trips in the driving snow! He loved sports, playing football and basketball at Foley High School. He received a football scholarship to Livingston State College, now University of West Alabama, where he played for 4 years, graduating in 1963. He was a member of the football hall of fame. Golfing was a favorite hobby and he played on many different courses across the country. For many years he enjoyed riding his motorcycle with a local motorcycle club. It’s been said you didn’t want to ride behind him, as you could be pelted with scuppernong hulls and seeds since he loved eating them while riding! The last few years he enjoyed living next door to his sister, whom he didn’t mind dropping in on unannounced for supper, or bringing her a box of brownie mix to make for him so he would have a t.v. snack that night! He was also a member of Abiding Love Fellowship Church. He was quite a character and will be sorely missed! Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Robert Daniel (Danny) Graham. He leaves behind his daughter Kim Johnson (Glenn) of Baton Rouge, LA, and his son Gordy Graham, of San Francisco, CA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, his pride and joy: Katie Johnson Morris (Max), Ally Johnson Bayard (James), Cooper Johnson Chavers (Blake), and Matthew Graham Johnson, along with four great-grandchildren, James Hampton Bayard, Amelia Bayard, Natalie Morris and Evie Morris. Survivors also include his two sisters, Dannette Graham, of Foley, and Debbie Harrell, of Elberta, Al, along with nieces, nephews and many cousins. Memorial Service Saturday January 14, 2023 1pm the Grove Clubhouse 8647 Arlington drive Foley Al Arrangements entrusted to Cason Funeral Service in Foley Al
