Remembering A Life Well Lived: John C. Griffin It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John C. Griffin, who died peacefully on October 15th, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on January 9th, 1953, John was a devoted husband, a beloved father, a cherished Papaw, a brother, a close friend to many, and a dedicated public servant. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. John dedicated his life to serving his community. He had a distinguished career as a police officer for 35 years, serving as a public civil servant in several cities before his retirement. His commitment to protecting others was unwavering, a trait admired by his colleagues and the public alike. John was most famously known to his family and grandchildren as Papaw, a title he wore with immense pride. To his friends he was Johnny. He was a pillar of strength and a constant source of laughter, loved by many for his irresistible charm and quick wit. A man of simple, yet strong, passions, Papaw's perfect day included a steaming cup of black coffee, a search for new evidence of Bigfoot, and listening to the timeless tunes of The Beatles. He found true contentment in the outdoors, and all things Halloween; but nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than his six grandchildren, especially playing with his two youngest grandsons. He is survived by his loving wife, Lyn Griffin, and his three devoted daughters, Heather Griffin, Tiffany Anderson-Warr, and Alexandria Griffin. He also leaves behind six adoring grandchildren, Hannah Mason, Thomas Taylor, Katelyn Anderson, Camille Warr, Dallas Griffin, and Rylin Rodriguez. He is also survived by his sister, Frela Wojciechowski and brother-in-law, Dave Wojciechowski. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, service, and love. A celebration of life gathering will be announced in the coming days.
