James W. Sanders Saturday, February 5, 1949 Thursday December 11, 2025 James William Sanders, age 76 of Gulf Shores passed away on Thursday December 11, 2025. He was at home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 5, 1949 in Atlanta, Ga. He grew up in the Atlanta area. He worked for Atlantic Steel for 15 years before retiring in 1993. He was a long time member of Providence Baptist Church. He was an active member of Open Door Baptist Church before his illness, and had great love for the Lord. He had a kind, loving soul and was always eager to talk to people about his love for the Lord. He always had a smile and kind words for everyone he met. He was an avid fan of the GA Bulldogs. He loved his family more than anything and loved spending as much time with them as possible. He was preceded in death by his father Lewis Sanders and mother Joan Couch Sanders, daughter Sandy Cole, and sister Joanie Sanders Smith. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Cathy Wood Sanders, daughter and son in law Christie and Trevor, sister and brother in law Gail and Bob Pegram, sister and brother in law Vicky and Gary Duke, brother Carl Sanders, brother and sister in law sister in law John and Crystal Sanders, brother David. He had two grandsons Skyler Liszewski and Jacob Anglin. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all. A private memorial service for the family was on January 9, 2026 at Open Door Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Weaver officiating. Cremation was handled by Cason Funeral Service.
