Eva J Champion

Eva Jane Champion June 1, 1951-October 29, 2024 Eva was preceded in death by her parents Marie and Olaf Morken; the love of her life, her husband Ronald Champion; great-grandson, Briley Cole Deason, her loved sister, Lee Vaughan; brother-in-law, Roy Vaughn; brother and sister-in-laws, Sandy Champion and Tina Epps; In-laws, Vivian and Carl Champion. Eva is survived by her daughters, Belinda Chandler (Josh) and Ronda Whitman (Josh). Eva also has her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Justin Champion (Natalie), Andrew Chandler (Emma), Zachary Chandler (Ashley), Logan Chandler, Riley Whitman, and Mayson Whitman, her precious great-grandchildren, Carleigh Champion, Eva Champion, Olivia Champion, Macie Chandler, Ayden Deason, Addison Haywood, and Hadley Mintz. Eva was born and raised in Washington state. When she was 19 years old, she moved to Alabama with her sister Lee where she met her husband, Ron. Eva retired after many years of hard work as a supervisor from CM Offray. Her beloved coworkers became her extended family. This was proven years later when she would call her favorite CNA’s and nurses on her memory care unit by her coworker’s names. This gave the family peace of mind knowing Eva thought highly of the ones taking care of her. Eva loved living. She was always ready to go on an adventure. Whether it be camping in the woods with close family friends, playing cards by lantern light, or riding four-wheelers with her sister and their husbands, or going to Six Flags or the beach with her children and grandchildren. Eva was a force of nature. She spoke her mind without apology, and you never had to guess what she was thinking. Her honesty was refreshing, and she had a knack for making everyone laugh. People who stepped into her life could not help but love her because she made them feel like family. She was as strong-minded and tough as they came. Her spirit and love will always be remembered. Eva had the biggest heart. One Christmas, she hung at least 18 stockings on her wall so all of the teenagers that she knew who might be having a rough holiday, would at least have a stocking for Christmas. When Eva’s name became Mawmaw, it was the best name she could have. Each one of her grandchildren holds the title of Mawmaw’s favorite grandchild. She told each one not to tell the others, it was a secret. She truly had the ability to make each of them feel as if they were her favorite. Please pray for peace and comfort for our family as we start the next chapter of our lives without our Mother and Mawmaw. She held a special role in so many lives. Please take time to think of a memory with her that makes you laugh or smile. If you knew my Momma, you know she would let you know exactly what she thought. You also know that when she loved you, she loved you with her whole heart. Thank you, Momma, for showing me how to be a good Momma, and for setting the bar high because you were the best Mawmaw.
