Donald Lee Cooper

Donald Lee Cooper, age 84, passed peacefully at home in Orange Beach, Al with his wife Martha by his side on Friday, March 31, 2023, from complications of a long battle against Parkinson's! Preceded in death : mother- Mandy Lucille Alexander of Ky., Father- Elzey Ezra Cooper of WV, sons- Bobby & Donald Jr. Cooper, brothers Lonnie F. & Billy & sister- Joyce! Don is survived by his wife, Martha T. and children: Stephen (Cindy) Cooper and Angie C Jones - Stepchildren: Tushanna (Chris) Sumrall and Shannon Temples and grandchildren- Cameron (Emily & great grand- Linen) Skylar Jones Cohick (Adam) and multiple grands & great-grands (that he called his blessings from God) sisters: Janet (Darrell) Ocheltree, Anna (Roger) Ocheltree and brothers: Ronald (Mary), Junior Elzey (Faye), Wayne, David Cooper! He was a supporter/member of Shriners, 28th #829 Shades Valley Lodge, Police officer in Birmingham for short time and proudly served in the Army for 38 years as Command Sgt Major of "101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles/ Air Assault) (recipient of many medals- Purple Heart) served all over world/ Vietnam, Europe, Fort Campbell, Ky, Fort Benning, Ga, Fort Jackson, SC, etc, then Advisor to Alabama National Guard alongside dear friends (Colonel Jim Sloan) then retired Inspector State of Alabama manufactured housing! He was proudly Awarded Alabama Commendation Medal for Distinguished exceptional Military Services for Benefit of the United States and State of Alabama by Governor Wallace, Commander in Chief in 1985! He loved fishing, hunting, sport's especially WV, NASCAR, he was an amazing man, kind caring , respected by many who loved us dearly and will be dearly missed! Funeral and burial with full MILITARY honors will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 17, 2023 at ALABAMA VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY at SPANISH FORT, AL Located In Baldwin County In Lieu of Flowers- we ask you to please donate to the community Fire or Police Department/ Cancer/ or Parkinson's society Arrangements are entrusted to Cason Funeral Service in Foley Al
