Brigitte Getsy’s Life Story: I was born in January, 1952 in Nuernberg, Germany as Brigitte Krausser. My parents were Fritz and Elsa Krausser . My childhood was filled with many memories. I kept in contact with my brother Gerhard Mueller over the years. I met my future husband who was stationed at the time in Nuernberg. We were married in June, 1976 and that is when my wonderful adventures began. We moved to Lawton, Oklahoma where Rod was stationed. Soon after, Rod accepted a job with the Houston Police Department and we moved to Houston, Texas. I graduated classes to obtain my American High School credentials and received my Naturalized Citizen certificate. Much to my relief, we relocated to California, where Rod became a consultant. Eventually, we were able to settle down in Benicia, California when Rod accepted job with the County of Napa. What you didn’t know was Rod had a motorcycle and I wanted one too. After many hours of training, the flustered instructor signed my license. It didn’t last long as I wrecked the motorcycle in traffic. Also, you probably didn’t know, Rod owned an airplane. Of course, I wanted to learn to fly. It never happened because I frightened the instructor, who, during instruction, ran out of the airplane and quit. There were new adventures, when Rod decided to retire. We sold our home and began living full time in an RV. We traveled across the country for over 12 years and decided to settle down in Alabama. I found a great RV park mixed with stick homes that had a swimming pool. I always loved and needed a swimming pool to exercise in. Many good times were spent riding my golf cart around the community and exercising my beloved dog, Jenny. More excitement came after experiencing our second hurricane (Sally). My health began to go downhill from there due to many leg injuries, multiple bleeding instances, several trips to hospitals, wound care, lymphedema treatments, etc. Recently, after 6 months of not able to wear shoes, walk, etc, I was able to remove the bandages (see latest photo) and things were going well. Unfortunately, I ran into complications and went to the hospital where I was placed in the ICU. I never woke up. I do recall hearing a prayer and felt my husband hold my hand and kiss my check, and then the pain was gone.
