July 1, 1948 - August 1, 2018
A tribute story in honor of Michael John Meon. Michael John Meon, 70, passed away on August 1, 2018, from a heart attack. He went quickly and peacefully from his home in Orange Beach, Alabama. Mike had a very full life, and after practicing dentistry for 45 years, he was enjoying a leisure life of retirement. Mike was born in New York on July 1, 1948. He grew up with his sister, Patty and his parents, John and Marge Meon in Birmingham, Alabama. He found his beautiful true love, Jenna, in Los Angeles, Calfornia and they were married in Palos Verdes, California in 1972. Jenna and Mike recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary and had such a full marriage with three children, Ryan, Tara {spouse Wes Clem} and Kyle and four grandchildren, Fox Meon{10}, Eli Meon {6}, Charlotte Clem {5}, and Wallace Clem {3}. Mike was dedicated to his family. He was also an avid golfer, a triathlete, an Alabama football fan, and entrepreneur who was brilliant in science and math. Mike graduated in 1969 after completing his undergraduate degree in just 3 years. In 1973 he graduated from University of Alabama Dental School with a Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry, DMD. He grew a large dental practice from scratch and became one of the best Cosmetic Dentists in the country, truly loved by his patients. He was always on the cutting edge of technology and a man of firsts. His family sat around laughing at all of those firsts, he had the first Apple Mac computer and had to write his own software to use it. He had the first bag mobile phone, the first laserdisc player, and so many others. Mike was famously known as Dr. Meon, Doc, Papa Doc, Captain, and Dad. Everyone knew his favorite spot was Ono Island, and his favorite people were his family. He had a passion for cars, boats and being on the water. His first car a Chevrolet Impala convertible and his last car a Mercedes SL-Class convertible. He loved convertibles, driving with the top down, with crazy music on the radio. Mike had the biggest and brightest smile with a happy voice you could hear from the other room. He was always bringing fun to life. His legacy lives strong and will carry on with his family. Mike had a good story, a laugh and a hug every time you saw him. The family finds peace as now Mike is reunited with his son, Kyle whom the family lost at the much too young age of 18. He will also be reunited with his parents and some dear friends. His Meon smile will forever shine bright and many precious memories will remain. There will be a private service in Orange Beach AL.
