Mattie Lucille Beck

July 13, 1932 - February 7, 2022

Mattie was one of seven daughters born to Tom and Sadie Gilley. Born July 13, 1932, Mattie has spent most of her life as a resident of Lillian, AL. During her lifetime she has held many titles proudly. She was known to most as Lucille, Aunt Cille, or Mama Lou. The titles that she was most proud of were Mom, Granny, Granny Beck, and a Child of God. Mattie has spent most of her life serving others. She worked for Baldwin County Schools as a school bus driver, a special needs bus driver, and in the school cafeteria. She went back to school to take nursing classes and worked as a nursing assistant. Mattie also kept elderly patients in her home for many years until she retired. Mattie loved with all of her heart. It did not matter if you were family or friends she loved you. Most of all she loved the Lord. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Beck; her parents Thomas and Sadie Gilley; a daughter, Donna Cheesebrew; sons, Donald Beck and Jimmy Beck; a granddaughter, Candace Beck; a great granddaughter, Raven Tyler Santa Cruz; sisters, Tommie Quinn, Elizabeth Resmondo, Loree Carter, Eldona Tiner, and Nancy Slay. Mattie is survived by four sons, Ronald (Beverly) Beck, Fred (Sandra) Gilley, Richard (Vickie) Beck, and Jeff Beck; two daughters, Yvonne Simpson and Freida Duvic; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Sandra (Jim) Beal; godson, Pierre Beauregard; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Eternal Life Church, 34223 US-98, Lillian, AL 36549 at 9:00am for immediate family and 10:00am for friends and family. Service will begin at 11:00am followed by graveside service and burial at Gilley Memorial Cemetery in Lillian, AL. Pallbearers will be Clay Beck, Andy Beck, Jacob Beck, Wesley Beck, Elijah Lininger, Addison Gilley, Gabe Dexter, and Pierre Beauregard.
