Leon Davis

August 19, 2021

Leon Joseph Davis, born July 18, 1948, a lifelong resident of Baldwin county, went home to be with God on August 19, 2021. This we know for sure because he was talking to God when the paramedics arrived. Heaven celebrated his arrival because God knew he got a good one! Gone before him to prepare his place were his parents, Dena Davis Collins and Ernest Davis, sister Ann Davis and brothers William "Bill" Davis, Raymond Davis and Leslie Michael Davis. The greatest moment of his passing had to be seeing his son, Leon "Lee Lee" Joseph Douglas, Sr. waiting for him at Heaven's gates with open arms and that big grin, along with his grandson Derek Jerkins. Leon leaves behind his loving daughter Amber "LuLu" (Dennis) Jerkins. Also, his grandchildren Leon "Joey" Douglas, Jr., Dempsey Jerkins, Dennis Jerkins, Amber Darlene Jerkins and their children. Leon was a much loved stepdad to Darlene Douglas, Rhonda Russell, William Douglas, Jr., Amanda Sanders and Matthew Hooten. He leaves behind his sisters Rosemary Stuart, Joyce Collins, Josephine Frank and Mary(Michael) Willett. Leon also leaves behind his brothers George "Nick" Davis and Arthur(Gracie) Davis, and his sister-in-law of more than 40 years, Laurie Davis. Leon had over 30 nieces and nephews that were loved equally by one of the world's greatest Uncles! Everyone that knew Leon, loved him for his kindness, generosity and ability to make people laugh. In his lifetime, he loved dancing like nobody was watching, even though he knew they were because he was just that good! He loved catching fresh fish and cooking them right on the bank and smoking butts... just because he loved watching people enjoy his cooking. The man's Mexican cornbread was as good as his Mama's and that's saying alot. The world is a little darker without him in it, but don't you know Heaven is lit up extra bright! The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, as well as, Springhill Home Health and Hospice. In the midst of a Covid storm, each brought an unbelievable amount of peace and dignity to his passing. A celebration of Leon's life will be held at a later date.
