Laura Kathryn “Kay” Vanderbye March 5, 1948 – March 9, 2021 Vanderbye, Laura Kathryn “Kay”, 73, a resident of Gulf Shores, AL and former resident of Greenville, AL died on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Ms. Vanderbye married Robert Joseph Vanderbye on July 15, 1967 in Chicago, IL. For 13 years they were stationed in numerous locations before settling in Cowarts, AL in 1980 where they lived until retirement. In 2008 they moved to the Munro family home in Greenville, AL. Earlier in her life Kay enjoyed quilting and scuba diving with her family. Spending time with her grandchildren became her favorite. Ms. Vanderbye is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vanderbye, parents, Eugene and Margaret Munro, brother Kenneth Munro, and brother-in-law Ed Hurysz. She is survived by her daughters, Cheri Vanderbye and Patti Haataja (John); grandchildren, Allison Vanderbye, Ryan Riley and Zachary Haataja; sister Jeannie Hursyz; sisters-in-law Phoebe Latz (Tom) and Dora Clay (Alan); nieces Maggie Williams (Tom), Tina Shanahan (Chris), Julie Shapiro (John), Christie Pudell (Andrew) and nephews Kenneth Munro (Heather), Wylie Munro (Jana), David Eder (Laura) and James Eder. A memorial service will be held at Moe’s Landing in Gulf Shores, AL at 5:30pm on Saturday, March 13, 2021.
