Larry Edward Lowe Born: November 30, 1946 Died: May 10, 2022 Age: 75 years Larry Edward Lowe was born in Logan County, West Virginia to Artemas and Freda Lowe. After graduating from Logan High School in 1964, he attended Marshal University. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1967 and was deployed to Vietnam and Southwest Asia. He obtained the rank of Technical Sergeant, and in 1978 he earned his BS in History and was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant in the USAF. He married Hazel Lucille Wells in 1970 and had two sons, Douglas (Doug) and William (Bill). After traveling the world and serving his country honorably for 25 years he retired in 1992 at Little Rock Air Force Base with the rank of Major. Larry once again returned to pursue his education to obtain his Arkansas teaching certification. He worked at Arkansas Youth Challenge until he retired from the State of Arkansas in 2007. Larry was an active member of the Gulf Coast Elks Lodge 2782, Foley, AL, and a member of the American Legion Post 99, Foley, AL. He had many friends from all over the world that he met during his long military career and continued to stay in touch with them during his retirement. He is survived by his current wife Susan Baumgardner-Lowe, sons Douglas A. Gullett (Pam) of Ward, AR, William S. Lowe (Rebecca) of Henderson, NV, brother Garry P. Lowe (Eloise) of Lexington, KY, nephew Gavin M. Barker (Nikki) of Lancaster, OH, and grandchildren Haleigh, Kyle, Amber, and David (Savannah), great grandchildren Ellie, Lilly, Dillon, and Kingston. He was preceded in death by his parents Artemas and Freda Wheatley-Lowe, his first wife Hazel Wells-Lowe, and his sister Janice Lowe-Barker. Larry passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2022, after a long illness, surrounded by family at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Foley, Alabama. Services will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at the Gulf Coast Elks Lodge 2782, Foley, AL, at 1:00 pm. A small graveside service will be held in Logan, WV, at a later date.
