Cynthia Edde Humphries, 69, a resident of Foley, Alabama passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. She was born on June 26, 1952 in Fort Benning, Georgia while her father was serving in the Army. As a child she grew up in Harriman and Rutledge, Tennessee, where her parents operated a Chevrolet dealership. Even as a child and teenager she had a larger-than-life and engaging spirit. She graduated from Rutledge High School in 1970. During that time period she met and married her sweetheart of 52 years, David. Together they raised their two daughters, who were their pride and joy. She was dearly devoted to her family. Cynthia loved serving Christ by ministering to others through her work, her cooking, and with her engaging personality. She often made daily and weekly calls to a roster of folks including family, friends, and acquaintances. No matter where she moved in life, she made new connections and kept up with old ones. Cynthia had a servant's heart and was always very active in her church and community. In the 1970’s she was a Jaycette officer in Rutledge. In the 1980’s she served on several local and state WMU and Acteens’ boards and even led a few state Activator teams on mission trips. In the 1990’s she added volunteering with the American Red Cross and serving on several church committees. In the 2000’s she discovered a love for the Quilting Ministry that donated handmade quilts to individuals with long-term illnesses. But her most rewarding work came from ministering to families who had lost loved ones and spending time with and helping elderly and those in need. She faithfully served others until the day she passed. Cynthia loved her family with an endearing devotion. She considered them her crowning jewel. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Uriel and Lovenia Edde, Jr. of Rutledge, TN. She is survived by her husband, David, two daughters, Tonya (Tommy) and Misti (Jonathan), Grandchildren: Zach (Rachael), Ryan (Taylor), Heather (Nate), and Marcus, Great Grandchildren: Caroline, Adilyne, Harper, Thomas, Sadie, and Jackson, Siblings: Uriel Edde (Tammy), and Martha Edde (Michelle). She also had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved. A Going Home Reception will be held at First Baptist Church of Foley on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Foley.
