February 3, 2022
Alfio Anthony Dino, age 82, of Foley, Alabama, passed away Thursday February 3rd, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Dino. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Margaret Ann, daughter Allison (Joshua) of Lumberton, Texas, daughter Stephanie (Keith) of Sutherland, Oregon, son Ronald (Sandra) of Oxford, Mississippi and granddaughters Emma and Mikayla of Lumberton, Texas. Al was born July 31, 1939 in New Haven Connecticut, the oldest of five children. The family moved to Burbank, California where he attended John Burroughs High School, graduating in 1956. He then enlisted in the Navy for the next six years serving mostly in Hawaii. Al then attended Pierce College, obtaining an agricultural degree. He worked on a ranch as a cowboy after that for several years. After his daughter Allison was born in 1979 he moved to Merlin, Oregon. Al loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. You often could find him trout fishing on the Rogue River and later in life at the family’s lake in Mississippi. His other passion was historical re-enactments and pow wows. He was a proud member of the American Mountain Men. He was an expert black powder marksman. He also was well known for making his custom Bowie knives which he more often than not, gave away. Al could build or fix just about anything if he put his mind to it. He earned the nickname “Tinker” for a reason as you could always find him in his shop tinkering with something. A celebration of life will be held for Al at a later date.
