In Loving Memory of William Derek Kinsey “Outlaw. Trucker. Dad. Legend.” William Derek Kinsey, a man who blazed his own trail and never followed anyone else’s map. He was many things in life — a fearless outlaw, a die-hard trucker, a master of the grill, and most importantly, an incredible father. Born with a fire in his heart and a country song in his soul, Gravy (as most knew him) didn’t just live life — he charged through it in an 18-wheeler doing 90 with the music up. He had a laugh that could shake the walls, a personality bigger than Texas, and a sense of humor that never quit — even when it probably should’ve. He could make you laugh until you cried, usually with a joke that definitely wasn’t safe for church. He was deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure by his family, his friends, and the many lives he touched just by being unapologetically himself. Derek is survived by his five children, Destiny Kinsey, Haven Kinsey, Justice Kinsey, Dalton Kinsey, and Kenna Kinsey. He is survived by his Parents Pat & Bettiann Sobol brothers Patrick Sobol,Dakota Sobol, Sisters Bianca Foster, (Adam) Desiree Nichols (Fred) In true Derek fashion, we’re not saying goodbye. We’re just saying keep the pedal to the floor and the music up. We’ll catch up with you down the road Gravy. Service Information June 21, 2025 Summerdale United Methodist Church 412 W Jackson St, Summerdale, AL 36580 Service: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Departure for Burial Site: 1:00PM * We will follow to Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale to spread some of his ashes. Address is 17134 County Rd 73 Summerdale AL * Anything you would want Derek to have may be dropped into the burial site with him. Gravy’s Last Ride: 3:00-3:30ish. Maybe 4 depending on how many truckers. * Cars are welcome to follow behind the 18-wheelers. After Party: 7:00pm * 14635 Daugherty Rd, Foley, AL * There will be fireworks and food on the grill. * Byob and let’s party it up with Derek one last time
