It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William David Kidd, aka Pops—a man whose vibrant spirit, infectious humor, and unwavering love touched all who knew him. William passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and unforgettable stories. Born on September 29, 1955, William was a man who truly lived life to the fullest. With a heart full of love and a wit that could brighten any room, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Whether sharing a funny tale or offering encouragement, his presence was always a source of joy. William had a deep passion for many things, each of which spoke to his love for adventure, fast cars, hard work, and nature. His stories, along with the endless wonders of nature, captivated everyone who listened. His love for the vibrant hummingbirds and flowers that adorned his front porch was also well known. He had a true connection to the outdoors, always finding peace by the beach or under the open sky. But beyond his interests, William was a man who cared deeply for others. He was an encourager at heart, always lifting people up with his words and actions. His love knew no bounds, and he showed it every day through his actions and the warmth he shared with family, friends, and strangers alike. Pops leaves behind a rich legacy of love, humor, and the values he lived by. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. While we will miss his laughter and stories, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire us all to approach life with joy, kindness, and a sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Marie Steinhaus Kidd, of Elberta, AL; his sister, Robin, and brother-in-law, Max Clakenstein, of New Jersey; his stepdaughters, Annette Steinhaus and Brittany Crutchfield of Pensacola, FL, and Melissa Lashbrook of Foley, AL; his step-grandchildren, Taylor Crutchfield and Lula Rose (aka Doody) Crutchfield; his mother-in-law, Betty Krebs; and his best friends, Billy and Marsha Reed of Fowler, Colorado, along with countless other friends and loved ones who will carry on his memory with love and laughter. A celebration of William’s life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to share stories, reminisce, and honor the life of a man who brought so much light into the world. Rest in peace, Pops. You will be missed but never forgotten.
