Suzzanne P Cowart

September 5, 1948 -March 8, 2026 In loving memory, we honor the life of Suzzanne Pennington Cowart, a cherished daughter, devoted mother, beloved sister, and treasured friend. Born in Battles Wharf, Alabama, Suzzanne lived a life marked by grace, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She died peacefully s world on March 8, 2026, at her home, after a courageous battle with illness. Suzzanne was the cherished daughter of the late Geraldean Forster Pennington. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through her surviving family: her daughters, Holly Freitag and Kelly Freitag; her stepson, J. Lamar Cowart (Shelli); her sisters, Sharon Faust (T. Joe), and April Long, and Arlene Carroll (Jerome); her brothers, Barry Pennington (Deborah) and Gary Pennington (Debra), ; her grandsons, Joshua Davis and Peyton Cowart; her granddaughters, Hadley Turner (Trey), and Emma Kate Cowart; and her great-granddaughter, Georgia Kate Cowart. Suzzanne's life was also enriched by her aunt, Betty Morris, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Wayne Cowart, her beloved mother, Geraldean Forster Pennington, her brother, Harry G. "Sonny" Pennington Jr, her father, Harry G. Pennington and her brother, Larry Pennington. A proud graduate of Fairhope High School's class of 1966, her professional journey began at Julwin's Restaurant, where she worked as a waitress. Her career later led her to Fairhope High School, where she served with dedication as a cafeteria worker and later as a cafeteria manager. Her passion for nurturing others was most evident in her role as cafeteria manager at Spanish Fort Elementary School until her retirement. Suzzanne was an active member of Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church, where her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She offered her talents selflessly, serving on various ministry teams, including kitchen, decorating, and missions. Her church family was an extension of her own, and she poured her heart into every endeavor. Known for her kindness, caring nature, and boundless love for God, family, and her church community, Suzzanne's presence was a constant source of comfort and support. Her willingness to help others in any way she could was a testament to her generous heart and unwavering faith. Her interests were as varied as they were meaningful. Suzzanne was an avid reader, loved piecing together jigsaw puzzles, and delighted in the simple joy of cooking. She also enjoyed playing bingo with friends. A celebration of Suzzanne's life will be held on March 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church, located at 8717 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, AL 36532. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church, honoring Suzzanne's lifelong commitment to her faith and community.
