Steven Loper

Steven Anthony Loper, 60, of Orange Beach, Alabama, passed away October 31, 2019, in Foley, Alabama. Born in May of 1959, in Mobile, Alabama, Steve was the beloved and only child of the late Henry Luther Loper and Bobbie J. Poole Loper. He grew up in the idyllic small town of Chickasaw, Alabama, which he often recalled with fond memories of adventures with family and lifelong friends. Steve was the proud father of two exceptional young men, Brandon and Henry, adoring grandfather of the beautiful Lucy, a loyal and good friend to many, a passionate and environmentally conscious deep sea sports fisherman, an entrepreneur with several businesses of his passions which ranged from a saltwater fishing tackle shop with his custom lures for fly fishing and deep sea and rods, a small landscaping nursery, to landscaping, and an outdoor living courtyard store, an almost rabid Auburn Tigers fan, a Mobile Mardi Gras maniac and part of The Bad Boys of Mardi Gras, a knowledgeable and generous Master Gardener and landscaper, a heck of a cook, and enthusiastic disco dancer. He worked endlessly and tirelessly for whichever organization, club, or society he belonged, and there were many from Mobile to Arlington, TX to Pascagoula, MS. He worked even harder if the organization/club was raising money for disadvantaged or disabled children. Steve was smart, creative, strong minded, and strong spirited, he seldom backed down from saying or doing what he considered the “right thing”, even if it wasn’t a particularly popular stance. Steve’s quick wit, keen sense of humor, the twinkle of his eyes, energy, generosity, and life force will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his infant sister, Pamela Diane Loper, his parents, and his father-in-law William J. Dillon. Steve is survived by his son Steven Brandon Ross Loper and wife, Katie Smith Loper of St. Petersburg, Florida, his son Henry Dillon Loper of Mobile, Alabama and Pascagoula, Mississippi, his precious granddaughter, Avery Lucy Loper, his aunt Betty Young of Gulf Shores, Alabama, his cousin Harold Britt and wife, Melanie Klaas of Orange Beach, Alabama, close friends/family Cassandra G. Dillon, Sandy Dillon Loper, J. Lamar Wright, Mr. and Mr. Chuck Cummings, as well as numerous cousins and lifelong friends. Details and arrangements to Steve’s request of his Celebration of Life in Orange Beach, Alabama, will be announced at a later date.
