Sara Brown

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sara-Kay Anne Hackman Brown, age 61, who passed from this earth peacefully in her home, surrounded by her children on May 19th, 2025. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on May 9th, 1964, she grew up in Flowood, Mississippi before relocating to Atmore, Alabama in 2012 to live close to family. Sara was the human embodiment of kindness and light and gave endless compassion and love to those around her. She had an infectious spirit that filled the room and was one of those people you couldn’t help but adore. Sara was born to be a mother and Gigi. She lived for her family and the love, laughter, and happiness they brought to her life. She had a passion for traveling, discovering new places and the world around us, and was also an avid Disney lover. A lot of our favorite family memories came from traveling, no matter if it was to Canada, Mexico, or our annual trips to Walt Disney World. Sara loved it all and shared that passion and those wonderful experiences with her children, which will always be the greatest of gifts. She cherished the 33 years she spent with her beloved husband, Mike, and their love is one to write stories about. It is a story of true, unconditional, unyielding love and devotion. She is preceded in death by her mother, Joan Dimatteo Hackman, and her uncle, Bobby Dimatteo. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Brown; daughters, Alexandra (Xander) Brown of Orlando, Isabel (Adam) Respress of Atmore, and Madeline Brown of Atmore; grandsons, Brantley Respress and Reese Respress; father, Herb Hackman of Atmore; brother, Jeff (Rhoda) Hackman of Spanish Fort; sister, Margie (Gene) Pandolfi of Flowood, MS; aunt, Carole Lattomus of Wilmington, DE; and numerous other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life will take place in August to be announced at a later date. This gathering is a time for family and friends to come together, share memories, and honor her legacy. Everyone is welcome to join in this special event to celebrate the joy she brought to our lives. Please bring your favorite stories and any photos you would like to share as we remember the beautiful moments we had with her.
