Michael Brown

Michael James Brown, age 68, passed away peacefully on the third of June, 2025, at his home in Atmore, Alabama. Born in Oil City, Pennsylvania, on January 29, 1957, Michael spent most of his childhood in Titusville, PA before moving to Hawaii while serving in the US Air Force, raising his family in Flowood, MS, and retiring in Atmore, AL. He had a personality a mile wide, never met a stranger in his life, and had a true heart of gold. As a child, he loved sports and was a talented baseball player and wrestler. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1977 and served his country proudly for six years as both a distinguished Air Traffic Controller in the Pacific and as a member of the goodwill tours as a baseball player travelling around the world representing his country during the Cold War. Mike proudly graduated from the University of South Alabama with dual bachelor's in history and chemistry, both of which he was so passionate about, ending his college career at the Mississippi College of Law, where he met the love of his life, Sara Hackman Brown, who he married in the winter of 1993 and was happily with for the rest of their lives. Michael spent over 18 years serving central Mississippi as an attorney and was known for his dedication to his clients and his community. He loved spending time with his family, cherished every moment he spent with his two grandchildren, and was a life-long, exceptionally devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everyone who knew him or met him knows he had a deep love of watching and talking about sports and politics. He is preceeded in life by his beloved bride, Sara Hackman Brown; his birth mother, Isabel Brown of PA; his parents, Alfred and Burnice Brown of PA; grandmother, Viola Brown of PA; brothers, Terry (Blanch) Brown of OH and Jack (Marlene) Brown of SD; sisters, Kate (Terry) Renolds of PA and Mary (Jim) Guntrum of PA. He is survived by his daughters, Alexandra (Xander) Brown of Orlando, FL, Isabel (Adam) Respress of Atmore, and Madeline Brown of Atmore; grandsons, Brantley Respress and Reese Respress; sister, Janice (Bob) Wilson of PA; brothers, Pat (Patty) Brown of PA and Richard (Kathy) Brown of PA. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life for both Mike and Sara Brown will take place in August to be announced at a later date. This gathering is a time for family and friends to come together, share memories, and honor their legacy. Everyone is welcome to join in this special event to celebrate the joy they brought to our lives. Please bring your favorite stories and any photos you would like to share, as we remember the beautiful moments we had with them.
