Maurine T Ellison Miller

Maurine T. Ellison Miller, born April 14, 1936, to Maurice and Sarah Rose Crowell in Jefferson County, Alabama, was called home to heaven on October 17, 2022, at the age of 86. She had a smile that could light up a room and a heart full of love and compassion. She found her life’s calling caring for others as a RN at South Baldwin Hospital and at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center. Once she retired from nursing, she continued her selfless dedication to others by becoming a private sitter and by caring for her family, friends, and neighbors. Throughout her life she devoted herself to Christ and the people around her. Her favorite book was the Bible through which she encouraged others to live a life of love, forgiveness and understanding. She enjoyed being outdoors and picking fruit from the many trees she planted around her home and could often be seen spending a quiet afternoon watching old westerns with her grandchildren. She was also very artistic and loved painting the beauty of God’s creations. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart & first love Braxton Bragg Ellison Sr, her second love Harold Allen Miller, her parents Maurice & Sarah Rose Crowell, sister Joanne Fawcett, grandson Ronald Patrick Morgan, and great grandchildren Matthew Logan & Lilly Katherine Barnhill. Her legacy is survived by brother James Crowell (Linda), Children Jeralon E. Barnhill (Robert), Braxton B. Ellison JR., Sarah Deanne Richey, Tom W. Ellison (Ann), Kelly E. Newsome (Bill), Grandchildren: Jordan Barnhill (Michelle), Nathan Barnhill (Kasey), Amanda Lores (Daniel), Braxton B. Ellison III, Brian Ellison, Chelsea Frayser (Nick), Anna Waters (Fredrick), Dane Ellison (Ashley), Ethan Ellison (Ali), Bailey Ellison, Gene Spivey (Arielle), James Spivey (Lorrie), Clark Newsome, Kevin Newsome, beloved canine Andy, and 26 great grandchildren and counting. Services will be held Saturday, October 22nd at First Baptist Church of Robertsdale located at 18200 Hwy 104 Robertsdale, AL. Visitation will be at 12:00 pm with a church service to follow at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests you plant a fruiting tree in her honor and that you also share your favorite joyful memory.
