Louis LoVerde

Louis LoVerde, 78, of Foley, Alabama passed away April 21, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Louis was born to the late Albert and Josephine LoVerde, March 9, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from William E. Grady vocational school in 1965. Louis is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 50 years, Kathleen Wallace LoVerde and his three daughters Andrea Lynn (Daniel) Delong of Warren, Ohio, Alene Marjorie (Joshua) LoVerde Saxon of Lakewood, Ohio, Dannielle A. (John Joseph) LoVerde Brown of Foley, Alabama; sister Angelina LoVerde; grandchildren, Aidan Louis Delong, Alexander Daniel Delong, Chase Henry Saxon, Carter William Saxon, James Walter Gestwicki, Elijah LoVerde, Tia Lael-Alene LoVerde, Leila Charlese-Lynn Brown along with nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank LoVerde and Albert LoVerde Jr. and sister Penelope Leone. Louie, as he was affectionately known by his friends was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad as an engineer from 1976 until 2011. He was also a construction contractor for many years. He was an extremely hard worker and instilled that strong work ethic into his daughters. He did so by teaching them a variety of skills that aren’t traditionally associated with women, from construction trades to chopping wood. Lou was known to be quite a character by his friends and family, giving his Cheshire grin whenever he was being ornery. One thing is for sure, he loved his family and his caring wife that he endearingly called “mommy“. He married Kathleen Wallace on July 6, 1974 and they would have celebrated 50 years together this July. He was proud of his Sicilian Italian heritage and anytime he met another Italian would greet them with a warm, “Paisano!” Lou was a baptized Jehovah’s Witness from 1960. He attended the Wolf Bay congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There, he had many friends and enjoyed telling others about Jehovah and his Bible based hope for the future. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 4:30 PM (central time zone) at the Wolf Bay Kingdom Hall located at 21287 County Road 12, Foley AL 36535.
