Kimberly A Gunter

Kimberly Ann Guess Gunter June 27, 1971 – October 27, 2024 Kimberly Ann Guess Gunter, 53, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Coastal Paradise in Foley, Alabama, after a courageous battle with extrapulmonary small cell lung cancer. She was born June 27, 1971, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of John Franklin Guess Jr. and Marguerite Short Roe. She married Melvin Leon Gunter on Dec. 31, 2007, in Panama City Beach, Florida. Kim graduated from Kirby High School in Memphis, Tenn., in 1989, and attended Omega Travel and Leisure and Northwest Mississippi Community College. She was employed at Northwest Airlines and Pinnacle Airlines, before launching Lawn Jox with her husband, Melvin, in Olive Branch, Mississippi, in 2008. Survived by: her husband, Melvin; two daughters, Ericka Nicole Rivera and Katy LeeAnn Gunter; two sons, Jacob Andrew Gunter and Bradley Alexander (Haley) Rivera; a grandson, Malachi Mathis Roberts; her father, John Guess; a sister, Kristin Guess; a brother, Dustin Guess; a niece, Jaiden Guess; a nephew, Ethan Scott; and three cousins, Michael Garcia, Marguerite (Jerry) Henderson, and Kathy (Greg) Skopec. Preceded in death by: her mother, Marguerite Short Roe; her stepfather, Darwin Roe; her stepmother, Karen Guess; her mother-in-law, Mary Lee Gunter; and her father-in-law, Olen E. Gunter. Celebration of life: 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at Compel Church, 7790 Davidson Road, Olive Branch, Mississippi. Hawaiian shirts are welcomed. Kim loved her family, friends, and her team at Lawn Jox fiercely as well as countless others who became her family. She raised 4 wonderful children with Melvin while enjoying a very active life. She was a devoted mother and nonnie who loved to travel by any means, whenever possible. Kim was a great water skier, loved the beach, the lake, and would always go the extra mile for her tribe. She was always ready for an adventure and made friends everywhere she went. Kim lived life to the fullest and never missed a chance to make a cherished memory with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
