John M. Rachuna Sr. May 23, 1954 – June 15, 2026 John M. Rachuna Sr., 72, of 12476 Deer Acres Lane, Elberta, Alabama, formerly of Kiantone, NY, was welcomed home into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, unexpectedly, after a brief illness, on June 15, 2026. Born in Lackawanna, NY, on May 23, 1954, John was the son of Jane and Matthew Rachuna. He was a graduate of Lackawanna High School and spent his career as a dedicated and respected software consultant before retiring. John was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rosie; his brothers, Matthew “Skip” Rachuna and Teddy Rachuna; and his infant granddaughter, Audrey. He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Mary Beth, whom he married on January 24, 1986. John was the proud father of three children: Salvatore Rachuna of Erie, PA; Liz Smith (Rob) of Kennedy, NY; and John Rachuna Jr. (Jen) of Charleston, SC. He was deeply loved by his eight grandchildren—Hailey, Lilly, Matthew, Xander, Sam, Jackson, Owen, and Norah—who brought him endless joy. A man of deep faith and boundless heart, John lived life with passion. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and proud member of Bills Mafia, known for loudly voicing his opinions about the referees—opinions he was certain were correct. He loved all sports, took great joy in repairing cars with his sons, son in law, and grandsons, and could fix just about anything around the house. Yard work, tree trimming, and tackling projects were his happy place. In fact, John did not just take care of his own yard—he somehow managed to take care of half the neighborhood’s too, usually before anyone would ask for help. If a mower was running or a branch needed trimming, John was already on it. A true foodie, he enjoyed exploring new restaurants and taking long, peaceful drives in his Camaro convertible with the top down. But above all, John cherished learning about Jesus, sharing his faith, and spending time with his family—his greatest earthly blessing. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 AM on July 2nd at Joy Fellowship, 515 E. 7th Street, Jamestown, NY 14701. Meal to follow.
