James Colcord

James A. Colcord, 69, of Summerdale, Alabama born April 5th, 1955 in Niles, Michigan passed away peacefully May 25th, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Jim loved the Lord, his family and football. Over the years, Jim was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and witnessed alongside No Greater Love Ministries (among others) and later in life, he became an ordained minister. He worked 37 years in the manufacturing industry as a tool and die maker, machinist, supervisor and plant manager. He loved being outside and working with his hands. He always had a project. He loved his animals. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him and had a story for every situation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Okel Colcord and Mabel Pryor; brother, Terry Colcord; Granddaughter, Malina Pyle; Mother in law, Jessie Lewis; brothers in law, Gale and Clifford Lewis and a special Uncle and Aunt, Gill and Mary Clubb. James is survived by his wife, Michelle Colcord of Summerdale, Alabama; children, Daniel Colcord (Alana) of Elkville, Illinois, Kristi Pyle (Matthew) of Elkville, Illinois, Jenica Finley of Marion, Illinois and John Wesley Finley of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jayden Colcord of Mendon, Illinois, Alyssa Colcord of Clayton, Illinois, Brianna Colcord of Marion, Illinois, Zoey Colcord of Summerdale, Alabama; grandchildren, Rachel Pyle, Carter Pyle, Lincoln Pyle, Benjamin Pyle, Logan Shillito and Brittany Shillito; siblings, Linda Stanage of Niles, Michigan, Roseann Scarberry (Philip) of Hilliard, Ohio, Tom Colcord of Westerville, Ohio and his beloved pets; dogs, birds, rabbits and cat. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis CARE Animal Rescue (https://stfrancis-care.org/in-memorial/) or SICSC (Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp at https://www.sicscamp.com/give-serve). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 29 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of DuQuoin, 104 N. Washington St, DuQuoin, Illinois with Pastor Joe Wagner officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
