Hilda Benson

Hilda (Hilda Olivia Hastings) Benson, age 82, of Summerdale, AL, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 at her home. She was born September 11, 1941 in Pensacola Fl. to the late John Chasey Hastings and Hazel Rebecca Wilson Hastings. She was the sixth of seven children. She attended Foley High School (Foley, AL) and married Frank “Frank Merle” Benson on June 19, 1958 in Summerdale, AL. She attended of Greenwood Baptist Church, Summerdale, AL and was a former member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Leeds, AL. She retired from Leeds Water Works Board (Leeds, AL) in July 2001. as Office Manager. Hilda was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Hastings; brothers & sister-in-law Herbert (Herbert David) Hastings & Eloise (Eloise Barbara Wilson) Hastings; Vernon (Vernon Earl) Hastings; Jack (Howard Jackson) Hastings Macks (Macks Robert) Hastings; She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank (Frank Merle) Benson of Summerdale, AL; children son & daughter-in-law Duane (Frank Duane) Benson & Susan (Susan Jeanette Anderson) Benson of Huntsville, AL; daughter & son-in-law Kay (Hilda Kay Benson) & David (James David Jr) Reed of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren Jonathan (Jonathan Daniel) Reed, of Imperial, PA, Deanna (Deanna Lauren Reed) and her husband, Carl (Carl Samuel) McCabe, of Montverde, FL; Michael (Michael Duane) Benson & Lauren (Lauren Marie DeMoss) Benson of New Market, AL; Stephanie (Stephanie Michelle) Reed of Corsicana, TX; Julia (Julia Susan) Benson of Waco, TX; Elizabeth “Liz or Beth” (Elizabeth Anne Benson) & Joshua (Joshua Lee) Corbin of Burt, MI; Paul (Paul Andrew) Benson of Warrensburg, MO; great grandchildren Elaina Nicole Reed of Imperial, PA, Brinlee Grace & Teagan Kate McCabe of Montverde, FL; Posie Marielle & Maverick Patton Benson of New Market, AL; Alaric Finn & Micha Levi Corbin of Burt, MI sister & brother-in-law, Sue (Corliss Marie Hastings) Miller & Frank “Franklin L.” Miller of Foley, AL; sisters-in-law, Doris (Doris Lanelle Hughes) Hastings of Robertsdale, AL; Eleanor (Eleanor Louise Powers) Hastings of Summerdale, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
