Harold Gibbs

Harold William Gibbs February 21, 1955 – March 20, 2026 Harold William Gibbs, age 71, passed away on March 20, 2026. He was born on February 21, 1955, to Shirley Gibbs, née Grebner, and Jack “EJ” Gibbs. Following the passing of his father, Harold’s mother later remarried Virgil Beyer, and the family settled in Fort Dodge, Iowa—a place Harold would always consider home. Harold was preceded in death by his father Jack “EJ” Gibbs; his mother, Shirley Gibbs Beyer; his stepfather Virgil Beyer; his oldest brother Charles Gibbs; his youngest brother Timothy Gibbs; his beloved granddaughter Sammy Jo; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles. Harold lived a full and meaningful life in service to his country and his family. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he met the love of his life, Faye. Through their union, his family grew to include two children he proudly called his own, Becky and Chance. Following his military retirement, Harold worked a variety of jobs before returning to Fort Dodge, Iowa. There, he settled permanently and worked at Fort Dodge Animal Health until his retirement. During these years, he cherished the time spent with his mother, stepfather, and his remaining brother, Robert “Bob” Gibbs. The brothers, having endured many losses, rarely missed an opportunity to be together and deeply understood the value of time shared. Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Faye Gibbs; his brother Robert Gibbs; his children Becky “Mark” Peck and Chance Rigby; his grandchildren Irene “Logan” Richardson and Cetin Ozen; and his adored great-granddaughter Amelia Richardson. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Ronnie and Heather Gibbs, as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends. In his later years, Harold and Faye relocated to Daphne, Alabama, to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. Eventually, Harold became a resident of the William F. Green Alabama State Veterans Home in Bay Minette, Alabama. He was immensely proud of his military service, and his country honored that service by providing him care worthy of his sacrifice. Harold William Gibbs will be laid to rest on April 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
