Gerald Kincer

Gerald Ray Kincer (January 30, 1933- May 7, 2026) Gerald Ray Kincer, 93, passed away on May 7, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Haymond, Kentucky, Gerald was the second of five boys in a lively household shaped by hardworking parents. His father toiled as a coal miner, while his mother lovingly tended to their bustling home. With five boys under one roof, life was never dull; mischief and adventure were daily companions. Those formative years, brimming with stories, laughter, and memories, stayed with Gerald all his life. The values of hard work, resilience, and perseverance were woven into his character. He treasured his parents deeply and shared a unique bond with his brothers. A proud veteran, Gerald served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and determination to provide for his family. He was always looking for new opportunities and creative ways to make a living. In his younger years, he co-owned a record store in Michigan with his brother Billy. Over the years, he also owned and operated a gas station and a donut shop, pursuing each venture with dedication and enthusiasm. Even in retirement, his entrepreneurial spirit never slowed down, and he later sold tip sheets at the racetrack, always enjoying the excitement of trying something new. After retiring from the gas station business, Gerald embraced new passions. He found joy in painting and taught himself to play the guitar, pursuits that filled his later years with creativity and fulfillment. More than anything, he loved the Lord. He spent countless hours studying and reading his Bible, and his faith remained an important part of his life. Gerald lived life with a strong will and an independent spirit. He could be stubborn and difficult at times, yet he had a unique sense of humor and a way of showing affection that was truly his own—often through teasing and sharp wit. True to himself until the very end, he lived life on his own terms. He will be remembered for his fiery spirit, unfiltered honesty, creativity, and the countless stories and memories he leaves behind. Gerald is survived by his children from his first marriage, Shery Kincer Spray (Joe) and Laurie Kincer Baca (Ralph). He was a proud grandfather to Christopher Spray, Jason Kincer, Sarah Ray (Chris), Jessica Baca Parker (Eric), Jennifer Baca, and Brandon Baca, and a beloved great-grandfather to Matthew Ray, Ember Witherington , Thomas Ray and Greyson Parker, He is also survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Wright Kincer. Through their marriage, he was blessed with an extended family that included Mary's daughters, Margaret Johnson (Steven) and Sandy Shafer (Ken), along with grandchildren Jennifer Cassady (Ben), Jessica Johnson, Jacquelyn Johnson, Stephanie Shafer, Jill Johnson, and Morgan Whaley (Matt), and great-grandchildren Mason, Bryce, and Cole Cassady; Landon and Jake Changer; and Hudson, Wade, and Juliette Whaley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. Kincer and Dorothy Morris Kincer; his son, Michael Ray Kincer; and his brothers, Billy Kincer and Gary Kincer. Per his wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. His ashes will be spread at Smith Lake, a place that brought him peace, joy, and many treasured memories with family. Gerald strongly supported Samaritan's Purse and its work to help those in need. At the request of his wife, Mary, those wishing to honor his memory may make a donation in Gerald’s name.
