GEORGE M ENGLERT, 86 of Gulf Shores, Al left his earthly body July 23, 2025 after a long bout with metastatic mesothelioma . He was born February 18,1939 at home to Raymond and Faye Englert in Chillicothe, MO He Served in the US Navy from 1957-1962 and was a “fireman” aboard three different destroyer ships out of Norfolk, VA. He made several tours to the mediterranean. He loved serving his country and all things military. He often said he would have been a “lifer” had motion sickness patches been invented. He loved his country; felt honored to serve and always flew the US flag proudly at his home. He & Janet (Jan) were married on December 27, 1980 he referred to her often as “the love of my life”. Together they provided for their sons and traveled extensively. George enjoyed making memories cruising many places or driving out west or flying to Hawaii. His favorites were New Zealand , Rome and Greece. Survivors include: his wife of the home; son Tracy Englert (Chillicothe) (Angie); stepsons Kevin Visentin, Tupelo); (Tammy) ;Chris Visentin Saltillo MS (Becca) Grandsons: Lake Englert, Tyler Visentin (Gracie), Jacob Visentin, Troy Visentin, Drew Visentin; Brother Jerry Englert (Betty) Hale MO; Sisters in law Teri Northcraft (Gary) Gulf Shores; Patti Cobb, (Foley); Janice Englert Poway, CA; Brother-in law Duane Turner (Tupelo, MS) ; and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, oldest son David Ray; and brother Ray Joe Following honorable discharge from the Navy he worked for Donalsons Manufacturing and then was first a driver and later a supervisor for UPS in northeast Missouri until moving to Tupelo MS in December of 1984 where he was owner of an agency terminal for Churchill Trucklines An avid golfer he played with the “Brown’s Bombers” and Doyle’s Dandys at the Tupelo Country Club. Since moving to the Gulf he has played with a great group of guys at Kiva Dunes. He had one hole in one on #8 at TCC & shot his age once at Kiva and those were highlights of his many “I’ll never be Tiger Woods” golf ventures! One of his greatest joys was classic car shows, mainly the muscle cars of the late 50’s early 60’s. He was so proud of owning two in his later years. A 1965 Corvette and a 1959 Chevy Impala Convertible. He always said “they don’t make ‘em like that anymore”. During football season you could count on finding George watching one of his SEC teams, MIZZOU, MS State or Ole Miss on Saturdays and on Sunday afternoons his KC CHIEFS! He was a fan for over 50 years…he sure enjoyed these last five years! George became a dog lover when our Buddy (a standard dachshund) arrived in his life. He doted over the next three Benny, BJ and Bogey. Benny was Dad’s lil snuggler & slept snuggled along his long body every night! Special gratitude goes out to Southern Hospice care team, Misty Walker, Tatiana and Teena. He looked forward to their visits and they helped his wife keep him comfortable for 10 months. He loved them so much. And also to his sister in law, Teri who was with him daily whenever she could be until the end and never failed to provide comfort and relief to his wife and informed the family faithfully. George requested no formal funeral and his body is to be cremated by Cason Funeral Services who draped his body with the US flag for transport in honor of his service. That meant the world to his wife and showed him great respect. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS!!!!
