Charles L Dugger Sr

Charles Leonard Dugger, Sr. passed away the morning of March 14th, 2019 peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by his loving family and dear wife, Gaynell Chapman Dugger. Charles was born January 11th, 1935 in Cresent, Oklahoma. Proud of his heritage and eager to explore the world, he joined the Navy at 17 and served in the Korean War on USS Wiltsie. He was a member of the American Legion, Tin Can Sailors Association and was a proud Veteran of his country. In the years following the war, he made his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and cheered for the LSU Tigers baseball team with fierce dedication. More than all of this, what marked his life was his love for His Savior. He joyfully served in his church communities throughout his life and would tell everyone about the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord. Experiencing the adoptive love of His Savior he was able to extend that same love to several children and grandchildren throughout his life. He became fondly known as “Paw Paw" to many, everywhere he lived. He was a proud Father to Charles L. Dugger, Jr (Deann), Tommy Dugger, Gary Gautreaux (Linda), Gayla Landry (Benny), Kenney Zachary, and Melondy Zachary Hearn. He was a loving Grandfather to Ashton Dugger, Lindsey Dugger, Chelsea Dugger, Payton Dugger, Andrea Dugger, Micah Dugger, Courtney Gautreaux Lips, Jake Gautreaux, Emily Gautreaux, Preston Gautreax, Crystal Landry, Chad Landry, Maggie Zachary, and 6 beautiful great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas Charles and Della Dugger, his sister and brother-in-law, Audine and Romain McGuire, his in-laws, Cecil and Doris Chapman, and his grandson, Seth Gautreaux. He is survived also by nieces and nephew: Nancy, Rhonda and Randy McGuire. A Memorial will take place on March 19th, 2019 at 11:00 am at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery 34904 AL-225 Spanish Fort, Alabama 36577 *Please note: Flowers are not allowed at the cemetery.
