Burnice Leroy Dorman

Burnice (Bernie) Leroy Dorman, of Foley AL, passed away at his home on February 21,2018 at the age of 79. Bernie was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie Dorman. They were married in Foley AL on January 26, 1962. He was also precceded in death by his grandson, Zac Dorman. He is survived by two sisters, Barbara Hawthorne and Martha Emery. Bernie is lovingly remembered by his four sons, John Dorman (Marian), Gene Dorman (Charlie), Mike Dorman (Missy) and Kevin Dorman. He has 9 grandchilden, (Megan, Tara, Molli, Medea, Nic, Kyle,Colten,Allie and Anne), and 7 great grandchildren, (Lexie, Miley, Bradley, Evan, Kiley, Annalynn and Clyde). Bernie was born in St. Andrews, FL on September 16, 1938. After being medically discharged from the US Air Force, Bernie went to work for Vanity Fair Mills and retired with over 30 years of service. After retiring, Bernie went to work with the Baldwin County Board of Education as a school bus driver for almost 20 years. Dad loved life and was extremely outgoing. He never met a stranger. He loved sports and was involved with coaching and umpiring for many decades. Most everyone that knew him as an umpire loved him. He was always fair and knew the game. He made many friendships while umpiring that have lasted through the years. Dad also loved cars and trucks or really anything that had a motor. He loved working on vehicles and was always fixing one or more that he owned. Dad always liked talking to people. His favorite subject was the Bible and our Saviour. He wanted to share God with as many people as he could. Dad could be stubborn at times but that is a Dorman trait. He also was one of the most generous people you could ever meet. He paired good with Mom because she was the same way. Dad will be missed tremendously. We rejoice that he is free of pain, and is now resting with the Lord in heaven. Visitation will be held at Fishermen Baptist Church, 17117 River Road, Bon Secour, AL at 10am. The funeral service will be held at 11am following the visitation, with Bro. Shaun Majors officiating. There will not be a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Fishers of Men Harbor Ministries P.O. Box 151 Bon Secour, AL 36511.
