Katie V Adler

Katie Virginia Baker Adler was born on July 13, 1925 in Selma, Alabama to Lonnie Brarily and Pearl Margaret Baker. She left this world on August 12, 2021 to join her Heavenly Father. God welcomed Katie into His arms and was so thankful His child was with Him and was then escorted into heaven by Ed, her parents and siblings. On February 7th, 1948 she married Edward Joseph Adler. She was preceded in death by Edward, her husband of 73 years; parents Lonnie and Pearl Baker; and 5 brothers Neal, Donald, Harry (Brat), Stuart, Thomas and her twin sister Virginia Katie. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Her surviving children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are: Children: Nancy (Ben) Perry, Ronald (Kelly) Adler, Joan (Danny) Hayles, Jane (Rick) Abernathy and Shirley (Randy) Sullins. Grandchildren: Wes (Selena) Farragut, Todd (Jennilee) Hill, Kristy (John) Domnanovich, Robert (Crystal) Farragut, Ashley McLendon, Lisa (Gabe) Burkman, Kimberly (Greg) Thompson, Ryan (Megan) Hayles, Kathryn (John) Oliver, Benjamin (Britney) Sullins, Scott (Laura) Abernathy, Elizabeth (Hannes) Abernathy. Great Grandchildren: Hannah, Kaylen, Luke, Jake, Luke, Carter, Julianna, Ella, Caleb, Maggie, Grace, Grant, Chase, Peter, Audrey, Gabe, Reed, Libby, Charlie and Nolan. Katie loved her faith and her church. As her children grew and were involved in lawn party entertainment, cheerleading, sports, school band, Christmas programs, proms and much more, she was always there to support us. She would work all day and then work tirelessly into the night to finish an outfit, a prom dress, school uniforms, a doll dress or confetti eggs for a lawn party booth, and so much more without a complaint. She changed so many diapers and helped us care for her grandchildren and taught each of us how to care for those babies. Sunday dinner was always a wonderful treat which was started before church and let us not forget her famous potato salad. In their retirement years, Katie and Ed traveled all over the world, visiting different countries and cultures, touring historical places or just dancing on a cruise ship with their travel club buddies. She loved old movies, playing bridge, having parties, and going dancing every chance she could with the snowbirds each winter. If music was playing her feet were moving. There are so many memories that include momma and are so special to each of us. We would like to acknowledge some wonderful ladies who have so tirelessly taken care of our Momma: Casey Maddox, Mary Biars, and Debbie Adams. We could not have done it without you. You all have cried with us, laughed with us, and loved Mom and Dad as much as we do. We would also like to thank the staff of Home Care Companions, Amedisys Hospice, and Dr. Morrar. You all have been such a blessing. Thank you all for joining in our celebration of life for our Momma. It means so much to us and please share as many stories as you can with us. Our love to all, The Adler Family Nancy, Ron, Joan, Jane and Shirley A Mass of Christian Burial will be on August 28, 2021. St Bartholomew Catholic Church, 12795 S Illinois St. Elberta, AL 36530. The family will receive family and friends from 9:30 to 10:00 with the Mass to follow at 10:00. Lunch will be served after the Mass in the church hall. All are welcome, please join us for the meal and fellowship.
