Jay K Lucas

Jay Kingston Lucas, 79, died peacefully Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Foley, Alabama, where he lived with his wife, Marilyn, at the home of his son, Michael, wife Mary, and family. He was born March 3, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1960. He attended the University of Miami in Miami, Florida for three years and graduated from Northwood Institute in Midland, Michigan with a degree in Business in 1964. He was then employed as Purchasing Agent at Lucas-Milhaupt Engineering Company in Cudahy, Wisconsin. He married Marilyn Seidl of Green Bay Wisconsin in 1965 and moved with her and their children in 1970 to Naples, Florida. There he owned and operated a One-Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners and Coin Laundries until 1987. He then co-founded, owned, and co-operated a successful Gymnastics Music Production Company, “Elite Expressions” with his wife for many years. His love of antique cars led him to Collier Automotive Museum in Naples, where he became a volunteer, which led to his employment there as Docent Trainer and Coordinator. He took up golfing at Quail Creek Gold Club in 1989, where he made two “holes-in-one.” In 1981, under the instruction of Fr. Dominic O’Dwyer, Pastor of St. Williams Parish in Naples, he converted to the Catholic faith and made his First Holy Communion on Corpus Christi Sunday. He was an active boater and fisherman, a member of Naples Power Squadron and served as officer in North Naples Rotary Club. He was active in the pro-life movement for a number of years in Florida. Besides his Catholic faith, his great loves were his wife, children & their spouses, grandchildren & their spouses, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, three children - Wendy (Matt) Murphy, Michael (Mary) Lucas, and Jill (Tim) Cook, and by their 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley, AL on Friday, September 10th at 9:30am. In honor of Jay’s love of colorful Floridian attire, colorful attire is encouraged.
