Charlotte Marie Dwyer August 11, 1943-June 27, 2019 Charlotte Marie Dwyer, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at her home in Fairhope, near Weeks Bay, surrounded by her family. She was born August 11, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Ima Jean (O’Neill) Fife and the oldest grandchild of C.J. O’Neill, legendary San Antonio police detective. She was a graduate of Highlands High School and was a member of the Highlands’ Brigade. After graduation, she was employed by the United Services Automobile Association from 1961 to 1965. On June 26, 1965, she married the love of her life John L. “Jack” Dwyer, a career Air Force officer. As her husband pursed his 45 year military and civilian defense career, she traveled with him across the United States and lived in eight different states. During this period, she worked in the commercial and land title insurance business for 25 years, working for such firms as Lawyers Title, Chicago Title, Boatmen’s National Bank in St. Louis, Commonwealth Land Title, and American Land Title Insurance Association. She retired in 2002. For 35 years, she was a gospel singer, singing in churches across the United States. For three years, she sang with the Skylarks, a singing group out of Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Her three favorite songs that she sang often were “His Eye on the Sparrow”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “We Shall Behold Him.” Her hobbies were tending to her gardens and flowers around her home and feeding and watching the birds, particularly the cardinals, blue birds, finches, and hummingbirds. She also enjoyed going to the casinos in Biloxi, Gulfport, and Coushatta. Her favorite singer was Elvis Presley who she saw in person three times. She was well versed in the Bible being a born again Christian—she was a strong believer. She and her husband moved to the Weeks Bay area in 2002 from Fredericksburg, Virginia. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. John L. “Jack” Dwyer (Lt. Col, USAF, Ret), her son and his wife, Michael S. and Georgette Dwyer of Carlisle, Arkansas, her daughter and son-in-law, Melanie S. and Charles J. Riedley of Fairhope, a granddaughter and her husband, Megan E. and Jeb Rudder of Lonoke, Arkansas, a grandson, Corey Michael Arnold of Fairhope, a granddaughter, Ashleigh Morgan Arnold of Fairhope, a brother, Doyle W. Fife of Spring Branch, Texas, six nephews (David K. Dwyer of San Antonio, Shaun M. Dwyer of The Woodlands, Texas, Brett J. Fife of Lewis Center, Ohio, Bradley J. Fife of Lapel, Indiana, Chad A. Fife of Alexandria, Indiana, and Shawn W. Jones of San Antonio), her aunt Edie O’Neill of Austin, Texas, her sister-in-law Deborah L. Fife of Lapel, Indiana, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Roy F. and Jane H. Dwyer of San Antonio, many cousins, and her six life long friends since elementary school days—Jane Dwyer of San Antonio (her sister-in-law), Sue Price of San Antonio, Dona Fritsche of New Braunfels, Texas, Phyllis Kahanek of San Antonio, and Betty Henry of Stockton, Texas--all enjoyed getting together as often as possible. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth A memorial service will be held at a date and place to be determined.” Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank Springhill Health and Hospice in Daphne for their wonderful care and support—it was superb and comforting. Special thanks to Netherland Daniels, RN. Charlotte was an inspiration to her family and friends and made a difference in the lives of people she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her—now, she is at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Arrangements are entrusted to Cason Funeral Service in Foley Alabama Charlotte was my Soul Mate for nearly 55 years. Her passing has broken my heart. Although she has gone from my sight, she will always be in my heart and soul. As I told our granddaughter Ashleigh, you will never meet a more wonderful person like your grandmother in your lifetime—she was extraordinary. I deeply miss her and love her. Charlotte was an inspiration to her family and friends and made a difference in the lives of people she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all that knew her—now, she is at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
